Whether you’re looking for a hot hatch or a luxurious SUV, 2023 is the perfect time to search for your next car.
This year is set for more innovation, more style and, of course, electrification at the next level. So, what’s gracing the forecourts over the next three months?
Check out some of the top new car launches coming up:
BMW 7 Series
The 7 Series models from BMW always showcase luxury and prestige on the road, and this month’s new addition is no exception. BMW has taken it up a notch with more space and, as normal, a range of options, including petrol, diesel and plug-in hybrid. Not only that, the plug-in hybrid gives drivers around 57 miles of pure electric power before switching to the engine – perfect for keeping costs down on those shorter journeys.
The brand has a few others up its sleeve in January, with the i7, M3 Touring and Z4 also bringing more options for a powerful drive.
Honda Civic Type R
The Type R is a popular model in the Honda range, so it’s no surprise this is its sixth instalment of the iconic hot hatch. As expected, Honda is coming into 2023 with a more powerful model, which takes full advantage of the turbocharged 2.0-litre engine, uprated cooling system, and brakes. All complemented by its stylish design and impressive handling.
Ineos Grenadier
After some production delays, this striking model (perhaps set to be the next Land Rover Defender) is ready to hit UK roads. It’s got the hallmarks of a handy utilitarian vehicle, plus it comes in commercial and passenger options. Under the hood is the choice of a powerful 3.0-litre petrol or diesel engine, and with its capabilities, you can pretty much go anywhere.
Mercedes A-Class and B-Class
Mercedes-Benz has made a few tweaks to its popular A and B-Class models for 2023. Headlight styling and mild hybrid engines are the main aspects offering something a little different. However, like its predecessors, the saloon and hatchback are still available in the A-Class and similar in the B-Class.
BYD Atto 3
While BYD isn’t a new name to the market, it’s been a few years since its last model was introduced in the UK. However, in February, the Atto 3 is set to hit forecourts and is an electric SUV with around 261 miles of range. The battery tech is impressive, and it’s a similar size to the MG ZS, making it an ideal family car.
Hyundai Ioniq 6
After the success of the Ioniq 5, Hyundai is back with its competition to the Tesla Model 3. Underneath is similar to the previous model. But it’s on top where you’ll notice the major differences. Sleek lines and a minimalist aesthetic offer a stylish ride. Plus, there’s a choice of two motors, with the largest providing four-wheel-drive capabilities.
Kia Soul EV Urban
Kia is proving a big hit with innovative models. But while some brands are going bigger and better in range, this model takes a slightly different approach. With a smaller battery and less range (171 miles), it provides all-electric power at a more affordable price. Still, it packs enough juice for most journeys – making it an ideal entry point into electrification.
Peugeot 408
In February, Peugeot is introducing its brand new model, the 408. You’ll notice a slight style upgrade with coupe-esque lines and striking front features. There’s a choice of three powertrains, and an all-electric version is on the cards, but you’ll have a wait a little longer for that.
Lexus RX
Lexus is entering the fourth generation of the RX in March. This time, it’s had some pretty big style tweaks accompanied by a plug-in powertrain. Of course, the brand has stuck with its best-selling design, the SUV. But there are some impressive upgrades to handling and driveability.
Mazda CX-5
Sticking with most of its original design features and styling packages, the Mazda CX-5 has a slight difference for March purchases, and that’s the option of mild-hybrid technology. Its infotainment has also received an upgrade with Apple CarPlay, and Android Auto added. So if you love this model, it’s the perfect time to level up.
Toyota Corolla
The popular Corolla is getting a few upgrades in its March launch. Petrol-electric powertrains are a welcome addition. Plus, you’ll notice new grille and wheel designs. The only omission from this new range is the saloon version. But you can still get your hands on the estate and hatchback if you want to upgrade.
Vauxhall Astra GSe
Vauxhall is launching a new electric performance spin-off, the GSe range, and the Astra is first in line to receive this striking update. There’s everything from improved handling, lowered stance and, of course, more power under the hood – all while complemented by a plug-in hybrid powertrain. The Grandland is also another Vauxhall model to get this update in spring.
More new models to come in 2023
This is just a snippet of the new models launching in 2023, and with brands such as Dacia, Volvo and Fiat bringing exciting variants to the market later in the year - there’s a lot to look forward to.
In addition, a few lesser-known names will also be arriving in the UK market, including Aiways, Lucid and Fisker – each offering new and innovative models with impressive tech.
