Great news for anyone thinking about switching to an electric car – the Government has just launched a brand-new Electric Car Grant that could save you up to £3,750 on a brand-new electric car.
This grant is part of the UK’s Plan for Change to help more drivers make the switch to cleaner, greener vehicles – and save money while doing it.
How Does It Work?
If you’re looking at leasing a new electric car with a recommended retail price (RRP) of £37,000 or less, you may be able to get a government discount applied at the dealership.
There are two levels of savings:
- £3,750 off for the ‘greenest’ cars from manufacturers that have signed up to science-based emissions targets and shown progress
- £1,500 off for other eligible electric cars
Starting from 16th July 2025, manufacturers can apply to have their cars included in the scheme. Once approved, you’ll be able to enjoy the discount right at the point of sale.
Which Cars Are Eligible?
The list of eligible models is still being finalised, but nearly 50 electric car models are expected to qualify soon. Keep an eye on updates – and we’ll keep you informed here at Leasing Options.
