Guide to Van Body Types

Different Types of Vans

Just like cars, vans come in all different shapes and sizes. Whilst there may be some crossover in what different types of jobs or roles a van can perform, some are pretty specific. So, here’s a run-down of the different types of vans that we offer.

Small Vans

Transit Courier Van

Perfect for smaller companies or those who need to flit around inner-city and town areas. Smaller vans such as the VW Caddy or Transit Couriers are top choices for florists but equally capable as an electrician’s or plumber’s van.

Smaller vans have all the characterises of a car, with similar-sized engines or electric range, with some sharing platforms and technology with cars in the manufacturer’s range. A small van’s footprint is hatchback-car sized.

Medium Vans

VW Transporter Van

When you think ‘Van’, this is generally the size of a van that comes to mind. Ford Transit, the Volkswagen Transporter or a Renault Trafic. They’ve been known to be referred to as a builder’s van type size, or the home of ‘white-van man’.

Size-wise, these vans can come in a short-wheelbase, something similar to a large estate car, to a larger long-wheelbase; normal and high-top versions are also available. Due to their size and ease of driving, these vans can assist a wide range of roles and occupations.

Whatever your need in a commercial vehicle we’ve got the van for you. Take a look at the brilliantly modern Ford Transit Custom, it looks fantastic and is packed with all the latest infotainment and safety features too. Or why not consider the Citroen Dispatch? It’s cheap to run, looks great and drives well too. For class beating build quality you can do no better than the Volkswagen Transporter, it oozes class both inside and out.

The Mercedes Vito is a great choice if you’re looking for a van with real star quality. The Vito has a fantastically relaxed ride that offers a genuine luxury experience. We know you’ll love the award-winning Renault Master; the latest model has received a facelift and comes with an improved diesel engine offering more efficiency but still the same massive amount of load space. If versatility is the name of the game, why not vouch for the Vauxhall Vivaro. It’s built-in Britain for British roads and can handle massive payloads efficiently and easily.

Large Vans

Mercedes Sprinter

Courier and delivery type vans. The longer wheelbase and high-top versions are seriously large vans, capable of moving a lot of boxes or serious equipment to job sites. The Mercedes Sprinter is the typical large van, with competition from Citroen and Fiat models.

Pick Ups

Toyota HiLux Pick Up

Pickup trucks have never been more popular in the UK and it’s not hard to see why, they’re highly practical, great to drive and even look stylish too.

Pickups are built tough, with a good-size payload in the bed and large towing capacities. The design of pickups allows them to travel over some of the more challenging and hostile environments that working life brings to some professions. The Toyota Hilux has been the bench-mark pickup for the past 30 years. This iconic pickup truck has been pounding roads and tracks for over 30 years and the latest model is the best one yet - you’ll love its refined ride and plush interior. Or why not take a look at the ever-popular Mitsubishi L200 it’s been given a smart new facelift inside and out; we think it looks fantastic and know you’ll love it too. Pick up last year’s best-selling pickup by taking out a lease on the Ford Ranger. It performs brilliantly off-road and comes with all the latest safety features.

A decade ago, Volkswagen entered the pickup arena with the Amarok. The German manufacturer’s first foray into the sector has proved a great success and with its powerful V6 engine and car-like handling, it’s now one of the best in the business. For a pickup truck with the X factor look no further than the Mercedes X Class. It exudes style and precision on the road and everything about the interior is premium quality too. Or, if comfort and loads of standard kit are what you are after, instead perhaps consider the Nissan Navara. From the cabin to the ride everything about it feels like a top-notch SUV.
