UK Sales of Electric Vehicles Ahead of 2030 Target

At Leasing Options we’ve been monitoring closely the Government’s plans for all new cars to be electric by 2030 and have been really interested in the recent reports about the UK’s progress in reaching this target.

Latest reports by the media suggest that 2021 was a significant year in terms of consumer demand for electric cars. While overall car sales were down, electric vehicle (EV) sales soared. In fact, the Society of Motor Manufacturers and Traders reported that “more battery electric vehicles were sold in 2021 than in the previous five years combined.”

This is certainly a trend that we are witnessing with us achieving a 74 per cent year on year increase in electric car orders in 2021 - our most successful year to date.

So what does that mean for 2022?

Here at Leasing Options we are looking forward to a really exciting year for the world of electric.

We’ve started the year announcing a partnership with Pod Point, the UK's leading providers of electric vehicle charging. This has secured our position as a one stop provider for when you want to turn to electric driving.
