Registration Call

Us Brits love to keep up with the Jones’ where driving a car with the most recent plate is concerned and in September alone the UK has registered 425,861 new cars.

Taking the podium spoils were the ever present Fords with the Fiesta taking 1st place and the Focus in 2nd. The VW Golf came in 3rd just edging out the Vauxhall Corsa (which currently stands 3rd in year to date figures). VW Polo, Fiat 500, Vauxhall Astra, Audi A3, Peugeot 208 and Nissan Qashqai completed the top ten line up.

Cheap finance and low interest rates have all assisted the 5.6% growth in sales. This comes as fabulous news for the motor industry as this is the 31st consecutive month of growth.

Although we don’t see quite the same new plate ‘rush’ that we typically saw every August pre 1999; we do still see a huge jump in car sales at the March and September biannual plate changeover.

All the industry needs now is a boost to the UK built vehicle sales to knock Ford off the top spot.
