FIRST LOOK: Volvo XC40

 

Volvo have released more details of their first foray in to the premium compact SUV market- the all new XC40.

This vehicle will be the first to use Volvo's new Compact Modular Architecture platform which brings with it advanced connectivity, entertainment and safety technology.

The car will be offered with front or all-wheel drive as well as a choice of manual and automatic gearboxes. 

Power will come from Volvo's Drive-E engines, and at launch there will be three petrol and two diesels ranging between 150 and 250hp with other powertrains to follow later.

The entry level Momentum models will feature a Sensus nine inch touch screen and voice-activated control system as well as sat nav with real time traffic information.

Volvo's new On Call smartphone app will allow users to control their vehicles locking system, heaters and engine remotely.

You can also look forward to loads more standard features like LED headlights and 18inch alloys.

Advanced safety technology is included as standard too, like automatic emergency braking system and Oncoming Lane Mitigation which warns the driver of oncoming vehicles.
