You may have seen the recent Top Gear episode where Paddy, Chris and Freddie spend 24 hrs in and around Bolton with three company cars.
Now my accent isn't as broad as Paddy’s. I'm a little bit taller than Chris and, whilst my handsome good looks fall a little short compared to Freddie’s, I can pick out ten left field company cars.
Picking a new car these days is a minefield; with the different body styles, sizes and now fuel types it can be all a bit overwhelming, so I've picked three from each segment and something a little special.

Making a return to showroom floors after a short hiatus as the Auris, the Corolla Sports Touring combines hybrid power and a smooth CVT gearbox. The Sports Touring has ample boot space, including hands-free tailgate opening. With a choice of 1.8 or 2.0 petrol engines and less than 125/gkm for both engines, averaging an MPG of 56mpg its economical choice; however, it can be sporty when needed.
Another model which recently saw a refresh, the 3rd generation Kuga is based on the current model Focus' platform giving a more car-like feel to the drive and less utilitarian than previous models, allow the driver to feel refreshed after a long journey. The PHEV version combines a 2.5 petrol engine with a 14.4kWh battery allowing 35 miles of electric-only driving, and a combined WLTP mpg of 201.8 and only 32g/km of CO2.
Built on the previous success and knowledge of the C Class, this mid-sized executive saloon is great for long-distance travel and munching the miles, a refined manner. The C300de combines a 2.0 diesel engine and 13.5kWh battery pack with an electric motor allowing 32mile range of electric-only driving. By combining the electric motor and diesel engine it gives 305bhp and 700nm of torque and CO2 emissions of 32g/km helping those BIK figures.

Conventional car layout, an internal combustion engine and a fuel tank, the benefits of long-distance travel between fill-ups, but on the flipside tailpipe emissions, and some cities have green zones now limiting access to greenest of vehicles.
Seats answer to the Golf, the A3 and the BMW 1 Series. It shares a lot with the other VW Group cars via its platform-sharing philosophy.
