Leapmotor B10: 261 Miles of Range and Plenty of Kit

The Leapmotor B10 is a compact electric SUV that promises plenty of technology without the premium price tag – and one of the first things that stands out is just how simple Leapmotor has made the range. There’s only one trim level, meaning all the equipment comes as standard. Your choice of colour is one of the few things that can actually change the price, removing the need to work through a complicated list of trims and optional extras. Despite its budget-friendly positioning, the B10 doesn’t look particularly cheap either. There’s some seriously smart exterior lighting, a clean and modern overall shape and proper alloy wheels rather than the flatter, plastic-covered designs we see on plenty of other electric cars. Step inside and there’s a choice between light or dark eco-leather upholstery. We’re particularly fond of the lighter option, especially when combined with the panoramic roof, which helps make the cabin feel even brighter and more spacious. Up front, there are plenty of useful features too. The B10 gets some funky but functional cupholders, a large and responsive infotainment display and a clean digital driver screen. Then there’s the dashboard trim. It features loads of unusual little holes and, while we’re still not entirely sure what they’re for, they certainly give the B10’s cabin another talking point. On the road, the B10 is more about everyday usability than outright performance. It isn’t going to blow your socks off with acceleration, but it feels responsive, comfortable and more than quick enough for normal day-to-day driving. Leapmotor has kept the battery choice equally straightforward. There’s just one option, offering up to 261 miles of range on a single charge, which should give the B10 enough flexibility for more than just short trips around town. Purchase prices currently sit at just under £32,000, but the B10 becomes particularly interesting when you look at some of the affordable leasing options available. With plenty of equipment included, useful electric range and a simple model structure, perhaps one of the B10’s biggest strengths is that Leapmotor hasn’t made choosing one unnecessarily complicated.
