Putting its significant straight-line acceleration aside, the Polestar 2 will also impress with its practicality, such as its braked towing capacity of 1,500kg.
This, according to the automaker, makes the ‘2’ a leader in the compact electric segment, as far as towing capacity is concerned. As for pricing, the optional electric folding tow bar will set you back £1,000, which includes fitting and VAT.
The ‘2’ also comes with a combined front and rear luggage space of 440 litres, while an accessory roof rack can support another 75kg of weight if you’re keen on transporting sporting gear such as mountain bikes.
“Polestar 2 is an electric performance fastback that supports an active lifestyle,” said the company’s CEO, Thomas Ingenlath. “It adapts to your needs and is truly flexible. We know our customers value this flexibility and something especially relevant to tomorrow’s EV buyers – a distinct lack of compromise.”
Thanks to a digital retail model, all Polestar vehicles can be purchased online. UK prices start from £49,900 and reservations in initial launch markets for Polestar 2 made before December 31 2019 (with a fully-refundable deposit) at Polestar.com, will be prioritised for final order placement in early 2020 and prioritised delivery.
The brand has commenced opening ‘Polestar Spaces’ where Polestar specialists will be able to assist customers with product information and test drives. The first of these inner-city locations have opened in Beijing and Oslo, with a total of 50 spaces planned globally by the end of 2020.
