With the developments in in-car technology and design, motorists today are spoilt for choice.
We thought we would have a little look to see what motorists really like and value – are there some mod cons that are more style over substance? Is functionality over fashion the new must have?
Here’s what we found out:
- When given the choice between a heads up display over gesture controls it was a resounding win for the heads up display with 85% stating this would be their choice.
- The choice between Apple CarPlay/Android Auto narrowly won over the choice of front/read parking sensors securing 52% of the vote.
- Heated seats over blind spot monitoring was an easy choice for us and clearly our audience agreed with as a massive 88% choosing the heated seats.
- Another closely fought battle between powered front seats and LED accent lights – with the LED lights stealing the win with 56%
- One luxury fitting that really didn’t bring the rave reviews was the drivers memory seat with only 23% of the vote over the practical 360 degree camera which achieved a massive 77% of the vote
- Mobile phones are ever increasing their value to us beyond their traditional use of a communication tool but it lost out in the poll between a phone being used as a key versus side mirror puddle lights with 54% choosing the lights
- The final battle we posed was between self-operating and closing boot versus automatic headlights with the headlights stealing the show with 68% opting for them.
There’s a real mix bag – there are some new modern comforts we clearly love but at the end of the day there are some more practical tools that will always win over the creature comforts.
