It’s been widely reported that while the car industry has been significantly impacted by COVID-19, the electric car market has seen unprecedented growth.
We’ve previously reported on the rise in popularity of electric cars and according to the SMMT, so far in 2020, 30,957 battery electric vehicles have been sold in the UK - a 159 per cent increase compared to 2019’s figures.
The European battery electric vehicle market also grew by 31 per cent and now represents 4 per cent of the total new car market meaning its well on track to reach double-digit before 2025.
According to AAA Data, Renault is now the most sold electric vehicle brand with its impressive Zoe seeing a huge 50 per cent in sales.
