Clean Chevrolets

It looks as though car manufacturer Chevrolet is planning on introducing a sub-brand for its cleanest cars. They currently have the Matiz that emits 119g/km of carbon dioxide and also the LPG-powered Aveo with figure of 114g/km. Both these vehicles under new plans would receive a green badge to help in marketing and also to attract more car leasing customers.

A quick clean Nissan engine

Even with the strict emission laws that exist in Japan, Nissan have been able to produce its first super-clean diesel engine. The 2.0-litre engine will be launched at the Tokyo G8 summit in July with high hopes of helping to reduce global emission levels.

With Nissan looking to reduce company wide vehicle emission car leasing customer can expect to benefit from their developments in the not so distant future.

Cheaper production for Volkswagen’s new Golf

In September Volkswagen will launch its new Golf. Car leasing customers can look forward to all the great things you get from a Golf with a few minor tweaks here and there. The new Golf however, does have one rather attractive feature in that it has cost VW nearly £800 less to produce. This means that the company will be able to make a profit on the car straight away but whether the reduced manufacturing costs will be passed on to its customers will have to be seen.

TaTa’s future intentions

It seems as though the TaTa group are looking to expand further their assets with future acquisitions. There are rumours of a £1.5billion fund that can be used to buy another popular global brand. The successful purchase of Jaguar/ Land Rover has given TaTa the confidence to look at other opportunities. The Hummer, part of the GM group, may be the next target on its list.

Traffic increase

The RAC foundation has recently released figures predicting a massive increase in car numbers by 2041. The study has predicted that in 33 years time the number of cars on the road will have increased by 41 per cent on today’s figures. As a result of these predictions there are now calls for more roads to be built. Even with uncertainties about oil and fuel prices the success of future hybrids and alternative power sources help hold up the numbers.

New Range Ranger

Next year car leasing customers can look forward to the arrival of a new Range Rover and for the first time it will have an engine built completely from scratch specifically for the luxury SUV. The new 5.0-litre V8 will be available in both normally aspirated and supercharged and could also make its way into other vehicles in the family such as the Jaguar XF and XJ.

Mazda MX-5

The new Mazda MX-5 will be launched at the Paris motor show. Cosmetically the differences between this new version and the old are few. Mazda are so confident with the success of the current model they don’t want to risk too many changes.

Car leasing customers will be pleased to know that Mazda do have hybrid ambitions for the MX-5, but it may be some time before we see that model.

Audi A4 engines go through efficiency drive

Audi has taken its 2.0-litre TDI engine and improved its efficiency. In doing so they are able to offer car leasing customers a new, lower-power version with improved carbon output figures of just 134g/km. Once again more evidence of how manufacturers are taking emission figure very seriously in order to attract and keep their leasing customers.

Hybrid Futures

Whilst the Americans are raving about hybrids the Japanese, in the form of Toyota, are playing down their arrival. Toyota is trying to play down the performance of these new hybrids and urges caution with regards to range and efficiency. They cite the fact that vehicles never perform in the real world as they do during their testing and the figures will be drastically reduced.

On the other side of the coin Ford bosses are insisting that Hybrid power should be a national priority. They are looking to the government to provide incentives for firms to work hard towards developing hybrid technologies. With the cost of fuel constantly rising its not only your conscience but your pocket too that is persuading car leasing customers to look for hybrid alternatives.

Toyota plug-in hybrids

The claims coming from <ahref="http://www.leasingoptions.co.uk/manufacturers/toyota.aspx">Toyota are that come 2010 the company will have plug-in hybrids on the market. They will initially be used as fleet vehicles for the Japanese, European and America customers. The rumour is that the hybrids could be using the lithium-ion batteries for the fuel cells.
