Mercedes-Benz C-Class
With the new C-class, Mercedes have made a big effort to return to the impeccable quality associated with Mercedes of old. This means Mercedes have focused on making the new C-class an exquisite piece of automotive excellence.
Externally, the shape of the new C-class has been brought right up to date, with its snub nose and hunched arches, this looks like a luxury car should, opulent but with the ability to get the occupants where they need to go, and fast if necessary. There are two styles to choose from, the Sport and the Elegance. The Sport has the Mercedes badge on the grill, aggressive body kit and sports suspension. The Elegance has the badge on the bonnet, much softer suspension and has been designed for ’wafting’ its occupants around in a refined and regal manner.
Internally the new C-class has continued to improve. All materials used feel very high quality and the dash is laid out well with little clutter. The heater and stereo controls are intuitive, and all minor systems e.g. Sat Nav etc are controlled via an intuitive rotary knob on the dash that allows you to access their on-screen menus. The seating arrangement is very much designed to accommodate 4 adults, as the transmission tunnel obstructs leg room for the fifth occupant, but with 4 occupants the new C-class is very comfortable and an absolute pleasure to be in
There is a vast range of engines to choose from with the new C-class , from the small and economical to the downright bonkers. All engines in the range, apart from the very high powered variants return economical figures, plus a rewarding and spirited drive. Dependant on which model you go for though makes a big difference on how comfy the car is versus handling etc due to the suspension set up.
All in all Mercedes have managed to achieve what they set out to do. The new C-class is an absolute masterpiece. It has been built with the precision and quality of a quality timepiece, and it really shows.
