Apparently it’s far more common than we thought with quite a few of us nodding off behind the wheel.
Road safety charity Brake has published findings showing that 10 per cent of people who drive for a living have fallen asleep behind the wheel. The main causes seem to be a lack of sleep the night before, and they push for us to be more aware of the problem and to take a break as soon as we feel tired.
Certain journeys seem to put people more at risk, where a lack of service stations reduce the opportunity for a rest stop – the western ring of the M25 being one hot spot.
