New research has found that drinking caffeine drinks can affect driving in a similar way to alcohol. The Institute of Advanced Motorists has warned that research in the US shows that drivers can experience lapses in concentration as a result. The study shows that as the effects of the caffeine wears off drivers reaction times slow and they are less alert behind the wheel. A caffeine hit can make drivers better for a short while but eventually its effects wear off!
